Mobile Sandblasting Contractor in Michigan

We bring the equipment to you — no transport, no delays, no excuses.

Surface prep that comes to your site

Mobile sandblasting means the blast equipment comes to the job site — whether that's a manufacturing plant, a steel yard, a construction site, or a facility with large fixed assets that can't be transported. Blasting Jack operates fully self-contained mobile blast rigs across Southeast Michigan and statewide.

Most industrial surfaces are too large, too heavy, or too integrated into a facility to move to a shop for blasting. Mobile blasting eliminates that constraint. We set up containment, blast the surface, clean up, and leave the asset where it is — prepped and ready for coating or inspection.

Blasting Jack runs crews of 10–20 with 900 CFM air capacity and the ability to run four simultaneous blast setups on large projects. We're not a one-truck operation.

When to use mobile blasting

  • Asset is too large or heavy to transport to a shop
  • Structural steel is installed in place
  • Tanks, silos, or vessels must stay in position
  • Multiple surfaces at one facility need prep on the same schedule
  • Coating contractors are arriving after blast crew and scheduling must align
  • Project site is remote or difficult to access by standard equipment

In-place blasting of structural framing, parking structures, bridges, and building steel before coating or inspection.

Industrial Equipment

Manufacturing machinery, heavy equipment, trailers, and plant assets blasted on-site without disassembly.

Tanks & Silos

Interior and exterior blasting of storage tanks, food-grade silos, wastewater tanks, and above-ground storage vessels.

Infrastructure

Light poles, utility assets, seawalls, bridges, and municipal infrastructure maintained with mobile blast crews.

Brick & Masonry

Paint removal, stain removal, and surface restoration on brick, block, and stone — with appropriate media selection.

Trailers & Fleet

Equipment fleet and trailer blasting for rental companies, steel haulers, and equipment owners.

Problems mobile blasting solves

  • Rust and active corrosion on steel that's reducing structural life and making coating adhesion impossible
  • Failed coatings that are peeling, blistering, or delaminating — coating over them will fail in the same way
  • Mill scale on new fabricated steel that prevents coatings from bonding correctly
  • Old paint on equipment that needs to be stripped before a shop coat or field coat can be applied
  • Surface contamination (grease, oxidation, weld spatter) that will undermine any coating system
  • Scheduled plant shutdowns where maintenance windows are short and prep needs to be completed fast

Containment & site protection

Mobile blasting generates spent abrasive, dust, and debris that must be contained and managed. Blasting Jack plans containment as part of every project — not as an afterthought.

For outdoor blasting near waterways, parking areas, or occupied facilities, we use shrouded blast heads, HEPA filtration, plastic sheeting, and debris barriers appropriate to the site. For indoor work, containment systems prevent cross-contamination with adjacent operations.

Cleanup is included. We leave the site clean and the surface ready for the next phase of work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far does Blasting Jack travel for mobile sandblasting?

We primarily serve Southeast Michigan — Macomb, Oakland, Wayne, Washtenaw, Genesee, and Livingston counties — but we take projects statewide and into neighboring states for the right job.

Do you need access to power or water on-site?

Our equipment is self-contained for blasting. Depending on the scope and method, we may require access to water for dustless blasting operations, or electrical power for lighting in confined spaces. We'll outline requirements during the site visit.

How long does a typical mobile blasting project take?

It depends entirely on the surface area, condition of the surface, and SSPC cleanliness level required. Small equipment blast jobs can be done in a day. Large structural steel projects may take a week or more. We provide a schedule with every estimate.

Can you blast while the facility is operating?

Often yes — with appropriate containment. We regularly work during plant operations, scheduled shutdowns, nights, and weekends to minimize disruption. Containment requirements depend on what's adjacent to the work area.

What SSPC surface prep standards do you work to?

We work to the standard specified by the coating manufacturer or the project spec. Most industrial coating systems require SSPC SP-6 (commercial blast), SP-10 (near-white), or SP-5 (white metal). We confirm the required standard before the job starts.
